Im Januar 2025 habe ich mir endlich mal wieder etwas gegönnt: Eine Woche in der Stadt, die niemals schläft – New York City. Und wie du dir wahrscheinlich schon denken kannst, habe ich die Zeit dort nicht nur mit Bagels und Rooftop-Views verbracht. Nein, ich war auf Mission: Graffiti, Streetart und Urban Culture entdecken, erleben und dokumentieren.
New York ist nicht nur der Ursprung der modernen Graffiti-Kultur – es ist bis heute ein pulsierender Hotspot für alles, was bunt, laut und visuell beeindruckend ist. Die Bronx, Brooklyn, Harlem, Bushwick – egal wo du in der Stadt unterwegs bist, irgendwo wartet ein Piece, das dich staunen lässt. Vom fein ausgearbeiteten Wildstyle bis hin zu simplen Tags – NYC lebt und atmet Graffiti.
Ich war tagelang zu Fuß unterwegs, habe mich durch Kälte und Großstadttrubel geboxt, um die besten Wände, Tunnel, Trucks und Rollgates zu finden. Und glaub mir: Es hat sich gelohnt. Die Szene ist so lebendig wie eh und je. Alteingesessene Legenden teilen sich die Wände mit neuen Namen, die jetzt schon das Zeug dazu haben, Geschichte zu schreiben.

In January 2025, I finally treated myself to something again: A week in the city that never sleeps – New York City. And as you can probably already guess, I didn’t just spend my time there eating bagels and enjoying rooftop views. No, I was on a mission: to discover, experience and document graffiti, street art and urban culture.
New York is not only the origin of modern graffiti culture – it is still a vibrant hotspot for everything that is colourful, loud and visually impressive. The Bronx, Brooklyn, Harlem, Bushwick – no matter where you go in the city, there’s always a piece waiting to amaze you. From finely crafted wild style to simple tags – NYC lives and breathes graffiti.
I’ve spent days travelling on foot, pushing my way through the cold and the hustle and bustle of the city to find the best walls, tunnels, trucks and rollgates. And believe me, it was worth it. The scene is as lively as ever. Long-established legends share the walls with new names that already have what it takes to make history.
